Grove Street Hall AV

How to use the audio video in the New Hall at Grove Street.

To use the TV screen in the hall, cast your screen from the laptop, or your own device. For audio through the hall speakers, connect to the Bluetooth receiver in the cabinet.

It is best to setup audio first, before casting your screen.

Bluetooth the Audio

Take out the hall laptop, switch on and log in.

You can remove it from the cabinet and detach its power supply (assuming that it has enough charge for your needs). There are no cable connections required.

Note: it is best not to synch your OneDrive or SharePoint with this device. If everyone does so, the hard disk will rapidly fill. By preference, download files to present.

Power on

Look behind the cabinet and check the right three power socket switches are on. The leftmost socket is the laptop power supply which can be switched off unless the laptop needs power.

Please do not move the cabinet while checking! The cabling into the wall can be pulled out and damaged.

  1. Turn on the amplifier and select VIDEO/AUX.
  2. Turn the volume down to about 35 for testing purposes. It can be turned up later to achieve the desired volume in the hall.

Pair the Laptop with the KLARK TECNIK DW 20BR

The hall laptop has already been paired. Go to step 3 and check it is OK. Otherwise, or if using your own PC:

  2. Press the Bluetooth PAIR button on the front of the DW 20BR and hold for 5 seconds, until the ring LED flashes quickly. The device is now in pairing mode.
  3. Wait for the DW 20BR to appear in the selection of new devices.
  4. Click Pair.

Select Audio Output

On the laptop:

  1. Click the speaker icon in the Windows system tray.
  2. Click the output selector to the right of the volume slider and chose the Klark Teknik device.
  3. Play a test sound or song. “Ace of Spades” by Motörhead is recommended.

Cast Video

The screen is usually stored facing the wall, to protect it from flying objects (PE equipment, fruit, buns, cutlery, etc.).

Screen Setup
  1. Unlock the wheels and turn the screen the right way round.
  2. Unwrap the power cable and plug in.
  3. Push back to the wall and relock wheels when in place.
  4. Use the remote from the cabinet (tray behind door) to switch on.
  5. Wait for the WiFi icon in the top right corner of the screen to show a connection is established.
  6. Go to Applications and select Newline Cast+
Make sure to use the PLUS version, don’t try the older one on the home screen - it won’t work.
  7. Once the app is running, you are ready to connect from the laptop. You don’t even need to read anything on the screen or access anything from the menu.
Cast to Screen from Laptop

You can prepare whatever you want to show on the screen in advance. Then, with Newline Cast+ running on the TV, from the laptop:

  1. Press Windows+K to start screencasting.
  2. Select Newline-6208 from the available displays. The screen will report that you are trying to connect and ask for confirmation.
  3. Use the remote’s left arrow button to activate the Accept button and hit OK.
  4. Your screen will be cast right up there.
  5. Click anywhere or hit the escape key to dismiss the cast menu.
  6. Present what you are here to present (preferably “Ace of Spades” by Motörhead)!

Remember: the screen is just a big TV. No touch available!

Please Tidy Up Afterwards

Please switch off all equipment and put it all back in the suggested starting positions:

  • Screen: unplugged, cable looped high on stand, turned to face the wall.
  • Remote: back in tray behind cabinet door.
  • Laptop: shut down, back in cabinet, on charge.
  • Amp and Bluetooth receiver: switched off at socket behind cabinet (take care not to switch off laptop charger).
