Earth and Moon

The Earth and the Moon are companions in space.

The Moon is approximately a quarter the diameter of the Earth. This is shown by their relative sizes in these photographs.

The Earth

The Earth is the third planet from the Sun. It is our home and the only planet in the Solar System, or even the known Universe, where life is known to exist.

The Moon

The Moon orbits the Earth. This means that the Moon follows a nearly circular path in space around the Earth.
